Vilomix acquires majority shareholding i Polish company

04/01/2017

Vilomix Holding acquired the majority shareholding in Polish premix company Blattin Polska on 1 January 2017.

The company was previously a subsidiary of German agribusiness group Agravis Raiffeisen AG. It has a nationwide sales organisation on the Polish market and produces mineral feeds and concentrates at two factories.

Blattin Polska turned over DKK 161 million and had a workforce of 97 in 2016. The company is based in the southeast of Poland, in Siedlec, close to Katowice, and a new factory is being commissioned in Ostroleka northeast of Warsaw.

"I am highly satisfied with this acquisition, which fits in perfectly with our strategy of growing to take a leading position in northern Europe," says Peter Torssell Iversen, CEO of Vilomix Holding, and continues:

"We see major synergy effects between Blattin Polska and our existing factories. The chances of gaining a foothold on the considerable and interesting Polish market are now significantly improved. We also believe that with our strength and know-how within production of premix and minerals, we can forge an even stronger position for our new subsidiary on the Polish market."

Strengthened joint venture
Blattin Polska will become a member of the Vilomix group, which is part of the Danish Agro group. Vestjyllands Andel and Agravis are minority shareholders in Vilomix group. Along with international agribusiness activities and machinery sales, premix and vitamins are a major focus for the joint venture between Danish Agro, Vestjyllands Andel and Agravis. According to Christian Junker, Chairman of Vilomix Holding A/S, the acquisition of Blattin Polska should be seen as consolidation of long-term Danish - German collaboration.

"Danish Agro, Vestjyllands Andel and Agravis have a long-term, strategic joint venture in which we want to develop our international activities together. We have worked closely together since 2009 and the joint venture has become a major success, yielding strong financial results. The fact that Blattin Polska will become part of the Vilomix group confirms and strengthens the close, trusting and long-term Danish - German collaboration we enjoy today."

Blattin Polska is a strong brand in Poland and will therefore keep its name going forward. The company was founded in 1996 by German chemical group Bayer AG, and has existed in its current form since 1999 with Z. Pustula and A. Mirek as shareholders and managing directors, which they continue to be. The company is a well-consolidated, healthy and profitable business.
