Danish Agro’s Machinery Division breaks record despite major supply challenges

14/02/2023

With a turnover of over EUR 800 million, 2022 was a new record year for Danish Agro’s Machinery Division.

“Despite a particularly challenging year, once again we have had tremendous success and great results in our machine activities during the past year. Turnover rose to EUR 800 million, which is 7% higher than in 2021. At the same time, our operating profit (EBITDA) followed along and ended up at EUR 36 million. An improvement of EUR 8 million in relation to 2021”, says Henning Haahr, CEO of Danish Agro and continues,

“There has generally been a need in the market for investments in agricultural machinery and an excellent harvest in 2022 has made it possible for many farmers to invest. We have focused on and ensured that all farmers were able to handle the harvest despite missing deliveries.”

2022 marks 10 years since the Danish Agro group was active within machine trade for the first time and today Danish Agro’s Machinery Division is among the three largest machinery distributors in Europe.

However, the CEO feel that there are still opportunities for the division to develop.

“This applies, among other things, in the interplay with the traditional agribusiness activities and machine trade, which we see with the enormous interest there is in the market for our Cropline platform, where the farmer can work with their data to optimise their farm and reduce their costs.”

“2022 was also the year where we, in collaboration with HEG, Himmerlands Erhvervs- og Gymnasieuddannelse, launched a dedicated CLAAS apprenticeship course. We are working on developing this concept to also be approved and work in Sweden and Norway, where similar courses of education are not found today. This will help to ensure a competitive organisational setup when machines need to be purchased and serviced in the future,” says Henning Haahr.

In 2022, the Danish Agro group sold more than 2,000 new and used tractors, some 900 combine harvesters and more than 250 forest and construction machines. Currently, Danish Agro represents CLAAS in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, New Holland in Poland, and Fendt in the Czech Republic.

In Denmark, regarding field tools, the company also exclusively represents BEDNAR, FLIEGL and SPEARHEAD, in addition to a number of strong brands. Hereby everyone makes a positive contribution to the companies for them to deliver what Danish farmers demand. Internationally, there is the distribution of HORSCH in Sweden and Norway, Väderstad & Amazone in Finland and LEMKEN for more than 20 years in the three Baltic subsidiaries.
